Nothing to blog about
I apologise on my apparent absence from my new blog; the sad truth is that nothing blog-worthy has been happening!
Sure there have been little bits here and there but on the whole, it’s not been very exciting; just heads down, grunt work.
What I can say is, don’t underestimate the value of socializing at communities.
Having built the framework for the project I’m on we needed a deployment and update strategy. We need to do a lot of updates since some modules of the project have to go live fairly quickly while others can be released later. Initially there was this elaborate plan of reflecting the modules and creating version files and syncing DLLs but I remembered Kevin Trethewey talking about automatic updates with ClickOnce at one meeting, so after checking it out and demoing it’s capabilities to the project lead, we have a simple solution.
The ability to share work and project experiences at community events is as important as sharing technical knowledge or previewing technologies.
