Alpha testing Prehysteria
What’s cooler than making games? Playing someone else’s of course, and criticising unbalanced gameplay, shoddy graphics and looking for bugs to abuse
But that demonic attitude aside, after talking about it for ages a good friend of mine, Dion Scher, has brought out Prehysteria for alpha-testing; a novel web based, multiplayer game.
If you’ve played Dark Throne or Hell Wars you’ll be instantly familiar with the gaming concepts, but Dion Scher has added some interesting twists to the game that keep me coming back.
The game is set in the prehistoric past; you control a new species which must fight to survive and remain on top of the bone pile for archaeologists to muse over years later. The species type you select when registering determines your buying power for skills such as Attack, Defense, Forage and Procreate. Reptiles can buy evolutionary Attack upgrades for less but suffer when it comes to Industriousness; mammals can evolve good Defense at the expense of Observe while insects Procreate cheaply while they’re Resilience lets you squash them… well… like a bug.
What’s also novel is your gold, in this game Food. You can either acquire it by attacking your neighbours and carrying off critters of their species to feast on; or you can peacefully forage it for yourselves.
So check out this local game and be sure to register when he gets out of testing!
