Failing kick-ass sound in my car or an MP3 player I’m forced to endure Mark Gilman and Gareth Cliff on 5FM on my way to and from work.

But on those rare moments between annoying ads, corporate pressure inspired playlists and the incoherent prattle of the DJs there are nuggets of worth listen listening to.

Not that this happened this time. I just got a song stuck in my head and when I decided to look for it on the internet it wasn’t available. It was Goldfish’s “All Night” on the Hi 5 @ 5, and after meticulous googling I found their website http://www.goldfishlive.com/

To my pleasant surprise Goldfish is a local Capetonian band consisting of 2 jazz musicians/DJs (David Poole and Dominic Peters) and they classify their music as beats and jazz.

“…combining influences from jazz, dance, African music and downtempo, into a unique, truly African sound, and features a wide variety of different guest artists from South Africa and Dominics place of birth, Zimbabwe.”

On their website you can listen to samples of their released album which is really cool, find where their next gigs gonna be plus you buy their CD/DVD combo, t-shirt, etc.
