Google Analytics Invitation

Google AnalyticsI am so excited; I got my invitation code to Google Analytics last night!

Google is definitely going from strength to strength providing services in the web space (At a count of things I use regularly we have: search engine, mail, calendar, RSS reader, groups, maps and instant messenger). I can’t think of anyone who’s doing so much for, effectively, an open platform.

Not brand new, but harder to get access to is Google Analytics; to quote the splash screen:

“Google Analytics tells you everything you want to know about how your visitors found you and how they interact with your site. You’ll be able to focus your marketing resources on campaigns and initiatives that deliver ROI, and improve your site to convert more visitors.”

This is a serious tool for managing content and the marketing of the site with the reports focusing on user conversions.

“A conversion is said to occur when a visitor completes an activity that you have identified as important. This activity could be a purchase, an email list registration, a download, or viewing an online presentation. When you sign up for Google Analytics, you have the opportunity to specify your goal pages — pages that a visitor can only reach by completing a conversion activity.”

I’ve hooked it up to The Mailowl Scrolls, so please take the time to browse my site online and help populate my reports. I’ll keep you all updated with what the reports look like and how user friendly Google Analytics is.
