Soccer World Cup over

Taken from the Madam & Eve website just before the Soccer World Cup final, I think this is how many South Africans (and, indeed, people across the world) felt about the world cup, especially as it’s foreshadowed by the dismal prospect that the next completion in 2010 in our country will be a complete failure.

Regularly I read in the news, letters and articles highlighting the myriad of concerns and issues about getting crime down, and our infrastructure up to scratch; and judging by how every game I watched in the world cup in Germany how every stadium was packed, we’re going to need it.

More than the rugby and cricket world cups (which we’re good at) which South Africa has hosted before, the soccer gets a lot of attention and because of the size of our country, transport is essential.

Thankfully, I think we still have some time (none to spare though) to get ready and hopefully, when I turn 30, South Africa will host the world cup as efficiently or better than anyone else.
