Valuable INETA webcasts

The last webcast from INETA was very valuable (as was the first); and can I say I’m proud that the whole SA Developer Gauteng team attended a viewing at the Microsoft offices so that we could watch on a big screen and comment on the presentation together. It’s really cool that the webcasts are also interactive and we were posting questions and, for the most part, having them answered.

Hilton, from the Cape Town chapter, also watched the webcast and after the show, we called him up on the speaker phone and chatted about what we had learnt.

The next one coming up is:

Promoting and Growing Your User Group Through Strategic Marketing
INETA Live! Webcast
July 26th at 9:30PM (South African time)

“Perception is reality. But in order for there to be a perception about your user group, your target audience and potential partners need to know you exist and understand the value you bring to the developer community as a whole. That’s where marketing comes in. During this fun-filled hour, join INETA Vice President and Wintellect’s Director of Marketing - Sara Faatz - as she delves into the five principles of marketing theory and how they apply to your user group; uncovers some basic components of a promotional plan with a specific goal in mind; describes how to work with partners/sponsors; and offers the top 10 tips for securing sponsors. In a world filled with marketing noise you can’t afford not to learn these time-tested tactics for getting your message heard and achieving the results you need to grow a successful user group.”

If you’re a lead of an INETA user group, it’s well worth your time registering and attending these sessions. The speakers have a lot of experience running developer communities; and if you think you know it all, it never hurts to share your knowledge as well.
