NAG Game.Dev at rAge 2006

I promised I would wait until it was officially announced before blogging about the mini game developers conference (similarities to the real thing are strictly coincidental) the Game.Dev community is running at rAge 2006; although I have to confess that if you know me closely you should already have known this!

Check out the September 2006 issue of the NAG magazine (page 122) for the full details but for professional developers think of it as a community run DevDays.

The theme of this year is “Growing game development into a viable industry in South Africa” and the talks and workshops are ranged from beginner introductions to earning a living off game development. There’s also going to be an Idol’s type event where there’ll be a panel of judges focusing on your great game idea and offering suggestions on how to make that game a reality.

Unlike last year Danny, the leader of the community, is driving hard to get good visibility and awareness about the talks and workshops and I’m really excited that the members are also getting involved and offering to help by any means possible.

So if you’re planning on going to rAge and you’re mildly interested in game development be sure to come past and see what we’re doing.
