I am not unique on Vista

I feel like I’ve lost my individuality on Windows Vista; I can’t show people my desktop background when I lock my machine. Instead we’re given a default blue and green screen with text (inside of a dialogue box, yeah) explaining that the computer is locked.

Now I never really see my desktop background picture; I normally have 2 Visual Studio sessions running, SQL Server Management Studio, Firefox AND IE7 (for those MS applications that won’t work on anything else) and countless Windows Explorers.

Your background picture allows you to silently express yourself among your co-workers and individualizes your desktop from the others. From pictures of your family and children to esoteric art off the internet or this month’s hottie of the month (making sure it’s Safe For Work of course) the options are endless but only if you can show it off.

I’m sure it won’t be long before the first 3rd party desktop customization tools come out for Windows Vista and in the meantime I’ve settled for using the Photos screensaver pointed to my wallpapers folder.
