Ramp Metering Implementation – 26th September 2007

Just a quick post; I picked up the pamphlet they were handing out at the New Road on ramp explaining the new ramp metering they’ve implemented to try and curb congestion on the highway. The Go-Live date is set for the 26th September 2007 and the roads affected are:

  • Samrand, only south bound
  • Rooihuiskraal, only south bound
  • New Road, north and south bound
  • A quick search of The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) reveals a press release, dated 6 August 2007, with a contact number for more information.

Awesome man, thanks for posting. I know of quite a few people who will find this handy. :) Will pass it on..

That looks like it could just work.

I found the SANRAL website (http://www.nra.co.za/) with a press release about the implementation

My bad, I saw the digital roadsigns saying the go-live date was the 26th September and I didn’t get around to fixing the post.

I’ve been very fortunate to be travelling against the traffic all week and I haven’t had a chance “to use” the new ramp metering system.

I’m hoping to get some more stories in the newspapers and do another blog post soon on this
